Dinner & Show • 5:00 pm

Dear Emma Pizza & Wine Bar
Shawna Caspi is a folk-roots singer-songwriter who can make a room full of people feel like they’re hanging out with an old friend in a plush corner booth. She takes her time crafting lyrics that are poetic and meaningful, often using unusual rhymes and surprising turns of phrase. Shawna spent years on the road, playing festivals and concert halls, train cars, backyards, and living rooms, supporting her warm voice with intricate fingerstyle guitar accompaniment, and drawing energy from shifting landscapes and long drives through Canada and the United States. Her songs resonate with stories that are relatable, but told in new and unexpected ways. This is music that makes an authentic human connection, that conveys a sense of closeness, of being understood, of feeling less alone. Her latest album, Hurricane Coming, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award and an Ontario Folk Music Award.

Fresh off the release of his sixth studio album IN REVERSE, Chris brings his unmistakable voice, intimate piano songs, and deeply felt songwriting to two beautiful rooms — marking his first Canadian shows in over 10 years.
Chris first emerged from the New York music scene with Music for Tourists, gaining international attention. Since then, he’s toured across North America, Europe, Asia, and Brazil, sharing stages with Xiu Xiu, José González, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Live, Garneau’s songs pull you in close — tender, haunting, and quietly electric. For anyone drawn to songs that linger long after the room goes quiet.

Fritz Lang's German expressionist science fiction masterpiece, Metropolis, with a live improvised score. In a techno-future where the world is starkly divided between the elite and the workers, John Fredersen, a wealthy magnate uses unseemly methods to crush a worker uprising led by the charismatic Maria... who also happens to be the object of desire for his son Feder. Abstract set design, incredible practical effects, and hundreds of extras make Metropolis a dizzying and alluring retro view of the future. Accompanied by some of Halifax's most intriguing musicians and improvisers, this matinee screening of a classic film is not to be missed.
